Parent and Pupil Wellbeing at Nafferton Primary School

Our vision is for all our pupils, staff and families to have the support they need to build lifelong coping skills to help them thrive.
We will…
- Promote mental health as a part of everyday life.
- Improve the emotional wellbeing of our students and staff.
- Ensure mental health problems are identified early and signpost to the appropriate support.
- Offer provision and interventions that matched the needs of pupils and staff.
- Raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing.
We all have times when we have low Mental Wellbeing, where we feel stressed, upset or find it difficult to cope.
There are some common life events that may affect you or your child’s Mental Wellbeing:
- Loss or bereavement
- Loneliness
- Relationship problems
- Issues at school
- Worries about money
Everyone deserves to feel good and there are steps you or your child can take to maintain and improve your Mental Wellbeing:
- Build positive relationships
- Take time for yourself
- Look after your mental health
- Look after your physical health
What you can do to support your family’s Mental Wellbeing?
- Be open and talk about your feelings with your friends.
- Associate yourself with positive people.
- Join a club.
- Speak to a member of staff.
- Tell the Safeguarding Officer.
- Get physically active (a healthy body and mind are closely linked).
- Get enough sleep.
- Eat a healthy balanced diet.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Do some yoga or mindfulness activities.
Healthy Minds
Someone with a healthy mind is:
- Able to feel, express and manage a range of positive and negative emotions.
- Able to form and maintain good relationships with others.
- Able to cope with and manage change and uncertainty.
- Aware of the five ways to wellbeing.
